The problem with religion is adjusting yourself to an external being (I mean being in the philosophomolocalubriousescant way which loosely translates to thing or noun). Oh yeah, and how uber-crap-tacuclar it is. That would have to be a one of the major drawbacks to religion. And they are all so pro-The-Man. And they preach moderation. If I didn't want to drink a lot of whiskey, I would not drink any at all.

Now you know why I'm an atheist. But seriously, just thought I'd leave a comment, since I stumbled upon your diary through one of your lovely banner ads. Keep up the good work, I'm sure I'll be back.

Wow, you make a lot of sense. After being pushed around and harressed by Jesus-freaks for so long, it's nice to hear somebody with some of the same ideas as me. And kudos to you for having the nads to say that, especially on a banner account.

So that's why I'm consistently a stupid jerk when it comes to the religious conversation because I still let myself get blindsided even though I'm not as bad as I was when I was about 13

You made the statement that Deity has a hard time simplifying itself so that human's can comprehend. But wouldn't it make sense that someone with such an abundance of intelligence would have no problem coming up with a simplified version? Maybe you don't know as much as you think you do about religion. And as far as pressuring people to accept contradictory beliefs to be equally as valid as their own beliefs.. well, that's a bunch of crap. Anyone with even a hint of true conviction will stand behind their belief to death itself. Why are most people such pansies when it comes to standing behind a belief as absolute truth? A pro-life person is not just going to back down and say, "Well, since you have different experiences, you must be wise in your own right, so therefore, continue this abortion thing, though I consider it murder." And in response to Scion's remark about Jesus-freaks, it's the sad truth that a lot of Christians don't follow through in their actions what they say in their words. Too many in-name-only Christians walk around pushing beliefs they don't fully comprehend. If only the world could be perfect..

Matt, I find it very amusing that you think that you have religion all figured out yourself.

Everytime I go to write a comment about what I've read, what I've written, what I've felt..I go blank. So all I'll say is... good words.

matt, i like this entry. when i was a kid i thought (and still vaguely think) that when you died, you became invisible and got to hang out with aerosmith, and i happen to know that this is the truth, but just for me, no one else deserves to get to hang out with aerosmith. the rest of you have to hang out with creed.
